So you want to monitor the incoming links that you already have coming to your website. How do you know who is linking to you? Here are a few ways to find out who your backlinks are.

In Google use this command to search: link:www.yourdomain.com that will show you a limited view of how many sites are linking to you. These results usually only show site with some Google ranking but are not very consistant or reliable. For a better idea use this search method, "+www.yourdomain.+com" and use the quote marks. This search will show you how many pages Google has indexed that contain your domain name and give you a more accurate picture. www.yourdomain.com -site:www.yourdomain.com will give you the same results but take out the pages where you link to yourself.

While searching on Yahoo try this: "keyword phrase" link:http://www.yourdomain.com it seems to give back very nice results. The same search technique works well for MSN also.

You will find that every search engine list a different amount of links so do not get to caught up on it. Just use these as a general guide and you will be able to get a good idea. Also, it takes a while for backlinks to be updated so don’t panic if its been 3 weeks and your newly added links are not showing up yet.
